May I take pictures and video during the session?
We request that you leave the photo taking to us. Additional cameras during the session can distract from focusing on the subject.
When is it recommended to do a maternity session?
Around 34-36 weeks. At this time you can really see your beautiful curved belly.
When do I schedule a newborn session?
At least 2 months before your due date is best. You may contact Memories & Legacy Photography as soon as you deliver to schedule a date but there is always is a possibility that we may be booked. If you schedule a date and need to move your date back because the baby hasn’t arrived yet, we will be happy to work with you. Within 7 days of birth is the best time to capture a newborn.
It's supposed to rain the day of the shoot, now what?
If the session is to be outdoors, we can wait it out and see if it does rain that day. If it does rain, you can move it into your home or our studio or reschedule from the days we have available.
Oh no, my child is sick. Should we keep the shoot on?
Please no sick babies or kids. You can reschedule from the days we have available.
Do you have gift certificates?
Yes, these are very popular for gifts. Contact Memories & Legacy Photography for more info.
What milestones are recommended to capture for my baby?
All milestones are great as you’re capturing that moment to keep for a lifetime. These milestones are newborn-within 2 weeks, 3-4 months-lifting head, 6-7-sitting up, 9-10-crawling/standing and 1-standing or walking. 1.5 to 2.5 years old is most challenging. Portraits will take on more of a journalistic style.
When should I book a session?
As soon as you have a date in mind and know your schedule, contact Memories & Legacy Photography. Dates may book 2 months in advance (especially during summer and the holidays).
Are digital negatives available to purchase?
Digital negatives are only available for the client doing the shoot. The client cannot duplicate the files to give digital negatives to anyone.
All violators will be prosecuted accordingly. That client will get a copyright release for personal print usage only.
Disc of Digital Negatives—$150
Digital negatives of all processed images are only available to client doing the session.
Digital negatives are high resolution at 300 dpi. Client will get a print copyright release for personal print usage only that will have their name only giving that person(s) permission to make prints.
Client cannot duplicate the high resolution files from the disc to give to family and friends (no one may have the high resolution digital negatives except you). Client can make prints from the disc and give the prints to family and friends as a gift. Family and friends are always welcome to purchase professional prints from the online photo cart by inviting them to view the images.
Images printed yourself or local printer may appear a lower quality since consumer printers print everyday prints. Printer will ask you for permission to print the digital negatives–show them the copyright release for personal print usage that will come with your disc.

How long does a session last?
Sessions last approximately 1-2 hours depending on what you would like to accomplish. It is very important to us that you do not feel rushed. The more relaxed you are, the easier it is to get good pictures.
What is a typical session like?
We like to start by looking at the space to see if there is anything that catches our eye. Everyone's home/location is different. Some people have many spaces which will photograph well; others may only have one or two.
Before we begin taking photos, we will also go over your wardrobe choices.
How many final images will I see?
A 2 hour session will end up with 40-80 images to choose from. An hour session will have about half that.
How do I see my proofs?
Your proofs will be posted online in a password protected private gallery. Because many of my clients are new parents, I leave these private galleries up for as long as you need to make a good choice. However, if you would prefer to have a proof album, one can be provided at an additional fee.
